(This is just a bit of a sidenote, sorry) What I don't understand is why our country needs to have prayer scheduled on one day of the year. Is our nation so lost in its Christian roots that we have to observe one day out of the 365 days of the year to encourage people to pray. What is the point? If you feel that your being forced to pray, or if you are praying for the wrong reasons, you may as well not do it.

"I think the president understands, in his own life and in his family's life, the role that prayer plays," Gibbs said. "And I would denote that the administrations prior to the past one did proclamations. That's the way the president will publicly observe the national prayer day. But, as I said, privately, he'll pray as he does every day."
I don't know President Obama as a person, and I don't know what he truly believes and thinks. But he has professed his Christian beliefs, so I don't understand why he is issuing a paper proclamation saying,"its prayer day, go pray, or whatever." If he is a true follower, then I think he should make his beliefs evident to the nation, because the country will follow its leader, usually. He needs to lead by example and spark the nation's people into a longing for something greater than themselves.

Man fends off pirates with a deck chair!

As crazy as the title of this blog sounds, this is a legit article. The MSC Melody (name of the cruise ship) was sailing off the coast of Somalia when the pirates tried to board the ship.

Wyn Rowlands was celebrating his 62nd birthday with a dream cruise onboard the MSC Melody near the Seychelle Islands when he spotted armed pirates in a speedboat trying to clamber on to the vessel. Quick-thinking Wyn, a retired engineer from Bangor-on-Dee, picked up a deck-chair and flung it down at the gang before raising the alarm.
I want this guy on my side in any kind of heated situation. He fended off armed pirates with a stinking deck chair! I wish I was as brave as this guy to jsut be able to stand up to these pirate dudes. Something that doesn't make sense to me about this cruise line is in the article where it says that this area off the coast of Somalia is notorious for pirate attacks. Well, if its a danger zone, why not just maybe avoid that space of ocean on your cruise? That seems to make some sense to me, but maybe it is just a too nice of a location to pass up. I think the captain should maybe consider the safety of his passengers first, as opposed to making sure they hit the best places on their cruise. Just my personal opinion.

iPhone for Verizon deal

WOOHOO, iPhone for Verizon!!!

Verizon (VZ) and Apple (AAPL) are discussing the possible development of an iPhone for Verizon, with the goal of introducing it next year, people familiar with the situation say. It would mark the first time Apple has produced a version of the iPhone for a CDMA wireless network, which is different from AT&T's GSM technology. Vodafone, co-owner of Verizon Wireless, already sells the iPhone in Europe.

YES! I want this to happen because I've wanted an iPhone since they came out, but I'm on Verizon. And Verizon passed up the iPhone deal because they are dumb. I will be one of the people that sits outside of an Apple store 2 days prior to the release with my sleeping bag and case of water and lounge chair. I am getting an iPhone. I mean, if they are already selling the iPhone for Vodafone, the other half of Verizon, why not do it here in America, too? It makes sense to me, so it should happen.

-Kyle
